Hydro-Québec encourages the use of water- and energy-saving products: an environmentally sound choice Français
MONTREAL, Sept. 25, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec is launching a new energy efficiency program, the Water- and Energy-Saving Products Program, inviting its customers to get a kit of products including a low-flow showerhead—fixed or hand-held—and faucet aerators. The program includes a component for municipalities that want to promote the kits to their residents.
According to Statistics Canada's 2011 Survey of Drinking Water Plants, Quebecers use a great deal of water: 45% more than the Canadian average and 75% more than Ontarians.
Use less water, save more energy
These products help save electricity through the more efficient use of hot water, which represents 20% of home electricity costs, while reducing overall water consumption, since they use up to 40% less water than conventional products.
Number of members of the household |

* Calculations are based on an electricity rate of 7.58¢/kWh, a reference flow rate of 9.5 l/min. for the showerhead and 8.3 l/min. for faucet aerators, one 8-min. shower per person per day, and other factors. |
