MONTRÉAL, April 27, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Once again this year, Hydro-Québec is proud to lend its support to the Défi sportif AlterGo as a presenting sponsor. This unique sporting event, which will take place from April 27 to May 3 in Montréal, Longueuil and Boucherville, will bring together more than 6,000 athletes with disabilities, from the elite to newcomers.
For seven days, participants from about a hundred Québec schools and thirty countries will be competing in fourteen sports, including athletics, basketball, swimming, rugby and soccer.
This year's edition of the event will see the return of the mini-marathon, which was a resounding success in 2014. As well, the Défi sportif AlterGo (www.defisportif.com/en/) will host the Americas Wheelchair Fencing Championship as well as the Boccia Americas team and pairs championship. The tournament will conclude with the powerchair soccer Super Finale on Sunday May 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Centre Pierre-Charbonneau.
Created in 1984, the objective of the Défi sportif AlterGo is to increase the access that young Quebecers with functional limitations have to sports and to raise their awareness of the benefits of adopting an active lifestyle and healthy eating habits.
For 25 years, Hydro-Québec has been supporting Défi sportif AlterGo athletes in their drive to excel and reach new heights.
