MONTRÉAL, Dec.16, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - On the occasion of its 40th Centraide fund-raising campaign, Hydro-Québec is proud to donate over $5.7 million to Centraide thanks to the generous participation of its employees and retirees. This represents an increase in donations of about 40% over two years.
Hydro-Québec is one of the biggest donors in the province
"Over 40 years, Hydro-Québec, our employees and our retirees have donated close to $118 million to Centraide," said Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec. "Hydro-Québec greatly values mutual support and we can be proud of the social engagement and generosity of our employees, who have once again answered the call," he added. The donations have gone to more than 1,500 organizations throughout Québec, many of them helping young people succeed or providing assistance to low-income families.
"We would like to thank all the Hydro-Québec employees and retirees whose generosity has enabled us once again to exceed our expectations. Together, we've collected close to half a million dollars more than last year. This means, for instance, that more than 1100 children will be able to go to summer camp," said Michael D. Penner, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hydro-Québec and co-chair of the Centraide campaign for the second year in a row.
"We'd also like to mention the excellent work of our campaign ambassadors, who helped make Hydro-Québec's 40th Centraide campaign a huge success," added Nancy Rail, outgoing provincial president of CUPE Local 2000 at Hydro-Québec and co-chair of the company's Centraide campaign.
