MONTRÉAL, Oct. 6, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Hydro-Québec is continuing to bring customers closer by making one of its facilities at Baie-James accessible to everyone. The company has produced a 360° video offering the public its first chance for a virtual tour of the world's largest underground hydropower plant, the Robert-Bourassa generating facility.
"This year marks the 45th anniversary of breaking ground on the project of the century—La Grande hydropower complex," said Élise Proulx, Hydro-Québec's Communications Director. "Its powerhouses, still on the cutting edge, form the biggest generating facility in North America, with a capacity of 17,418 MW. This video lets Quebecers zip up to Baie-James in just a few seconds and discover a slice of their history."
October 7, take an instant trip to Baie-James!
Hydro-Québec will be at the First Fridays event being held from 4:00 to 11:00 p.m. near the food trucks at the Olympic Stadium on Friday, October 7, to take the general public on a tour of Baie-James using virtual reality glasses. Come discover the amazingly large-scale hydropower facilities!
Hydro-Québec's first 360° video: A local production
To make its very first 360° video, Hydro-Québec and its advertising agency, lg2, chose a young Québec company specializing in virtual reality: 1One Production. "As one of Québec's first big advertisers to use 360° virtual reality, the only technology that can do justice to its immense facilities, Hydro-Québec is an innovator," pointed out Pierre-Alexandre Caron, virtual reality producer at 1One Production.
Hydro-Québec applauds the work of lg2 and 1One Production, and particularly that of VR producer Pierre-Alexandre Caron, executive producer Marc-André Gilbert and director Anthony Ayotte.
