TORONTO, Aug. 31, 2015 /CNW/ - Canadian writer-director-producer Paul Gross' new film, HYENA ROAD, is proud to name Wounded Warriors Canada as its charitable partner. The partnership is intended to help educate and inform the public about the challenges facing our Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans and their families who return from operations.
Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC) specializes in supporting Veterans and their families who are living with operational stress injuries as a result of their service to Canada.
"Hyena Road is an important medium to foster a national discussion about Canada's significant military contribution in Afghanistan. The film will help raise awareness about operational stress injuries like PTSD and the need for program funding support," says Scott Maxwell, Wounded Warriors Canada Executive Director.
HYENA ROAD is making its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday September 14th in Toronto and then debuts in theatres across Canada on Friday October 9th. The film stars Paul Gross, Rossif Sutherland, Christine Horne and Allan Hawco.
"Wounded Warriors is an exceptional organization that brings much needed attention and assistance to our country's veterans. It is with great pride that we will be working alongside them in this worthy endeavor." says Paul Gross, Actor, Director, Producer, Writer of Hyena Road.
Proceeds raised from the partnership will support Wounded Warriors Canada and their national mental health programs and services.
About HYENA ROAD:
Three men, three different paths, caught in conflict but brought together to save lives: a highly skilled sniper who can't think of his targets as human; an intelligence officer who has never killed while on duty; and a legendary Afghan warrior who left war behind but gets pulled back to battle.
About Wounded Warriors Canada:
Wounded Warriors Canada is a non-profit organization that supports ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans and their families. Their primary focus is on mental health and, particularly, the staggering impact of PTSD, perpetrated by Operational Stress Injuries. Overall, however, their mandate is to help any Veteran in need as they transition to civilian life.
