Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. and Hyundai Dealers Raise Funds for Heroes Challenge
Donation from Hyundai will help make wishes come true for three Canadian wish recipients
MARKHAM, ON, Sept. 28, 2018 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. today announced that in cooperation with Hyundai dealerships across the country, together they have raised a total of $30,000.00 for this year's Heroes Challenge, supporting Children's Wish Foundation of Canada.
The money raised will help fulfill the wishes of three qualified Wish Children between the ages of three and 17, who are diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.
"Our goal was to raise a minimum of $10,000 and I'm proud to say we've tripled that amount!" said Don Romano, President and CEO, Hyundai Auto Canada. "We are thankful to our dealers and our staff for helping to make this year's fundraising efforts a success. At Hyundai, we recognize the importance of giving back to the communities we serve in and by contributing these funds, we hope to make a positive impact on the lives of some very deserving children."
Heroes Challenge, formerly known as Exile Island, is an annual event which pairs corporate teams with a Wish Child, and a goal of raising $10,000 — the average cost of a wish.
"The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada is excited to be partnering with Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. Children's Wish recently granted its 25,000th wish – a significant milestone for a 100% Canadian charity. Forging a new and meaningful national partnership with Hyundai at this time is crucial. Their strong support and engagement at a national level helps position us to grant the next 25,000 heartfelt wishes to children across Canada who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness," says Chris Kotsopoulos, CEO of Children's Wish.
This year's Heroes Challenge takes place today in Toronto at Olympic Island. Here, a group of Hyundai Auto Canada employees will be teamed with past wish recipient, Christopher, to compete in challenges designed to test team spirit, mental agility, and physical ability.
Christopher was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour (intestinal), and after successfully receiving treatment and given the all-clear from his healthcare providers, his wish to travel to Disney World with his family was granted this past summer.
