HYUNDAI CANADA ACHIEVES 20 MONTHS OF SALES INCREASES

MARKHAM, ON, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. today announced it had sold 10,406 units in September 2010, representing an increase of 12.1 percent over the same month last year and the 20th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.

Year-to-date, Hyundai has sold 95,526 units, an increase of 15.6 percent over the first nine months of 2009.

"As we enter October, we'll be working on launching a turbocharged model for our Sonata line-up," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO, Hyundai Canada. "Producing 274-horsepower, the Sonata 2.0T develops more power than competitive V6s while delivering fuel economy that's equal to the competition's four-cylinder engines. At Hyundai, we don't compromise. We take advantage of modern technology to ensure our vehicles deliver both performance as well as fuel economy, and the Sonata 2.0T is the latest example of that philosophy."

The Sonata and Santa Fe vehicles in the Hyundai line-up showed strong sales in the market, recording increases of 115.1 and 18.4 percent, respectively. Further, the company's Santa Fe had its best month of sales since the vehicle went on-sale in 2000.
