HYUNDAI CANADA SURPASSES 2009 SALES IN LESS THAN 10 MONTHS
MARKHAM, ON, Oct. 29 /CNW/ - With more than two months to go in 2010, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. today announced it has already surpassed the total number of vehicle sales made in all 12 months of 2009. The announcement comes on the back of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) selecting the all-new Tucson as the Best New SUV/CUV under $35,000.
After a record 2009 in which the company sold 103,233 units and marking it as the best year in the company's 26 year history, Hyundai Canada is set to establish a new record this year. While official sales results for October will be released November 1, year-to-date Hyundai Canada sales are up approximately 14 percent.
"In 2009 everyone at Hyundai worked hard for 12 straight months so we could achieve the significant milestone of selling more than 100,000 in a single year," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO, Hyundai Canada. "It's not even Halloween yet and we've already broken last year's record sales."
Last year's sales record was broken when a customer in Quebec purchased a 2011 Accent.
"We've been able to achieve strong sales in 2010 with a balanced portfolio of strong products and blessed with significant third-party awards," said Kelleher. "We were elated that AJAC selected the Tucson as the best new vehicle in its category. Indeed, the Tucson as well as the all-new Sonata are proving to be extremely popular with Canadians coast-to-coast as sales have been robust all year. Yet the same can be said of our more established vehicles, as the Santa Fe and Elantra have also sold well in 2010. It's further proof that Canadians are seeing Hyundai as a true global automotive leader with vehicles that combine quality, value and style."
Hyundai Auto Canada, established in 1983 and headquartered in Markham Ontario, is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company of Korea. Hyundai vehicles are distributed throughout Canada by Hyundai Auto Canada and are sold and serviced through more than 180 dealerships nationwide.
