Hyundai Delivers Strong October Sales, Earns Two AJAC Awards

MARKHAM, ON, Nov. 1, 2012 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. announced today sales of 10,707 units in October, an increase of 4.5% over the same month in 2011 and the company's 46^th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth. Hyundai has sold 118,319 vehicles in Canada year-to-date, a gain of 3.5% relative to the first 10 months last year.

In October, Hyundai also received two major awards from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). After being comprehensively tested by over 70 automotive journalists during a week-long event known as Test Fest, the 2013 Elantra GT and Santa Fe were named Best New Small Car over $21,000 and Best New SUV/CUV $35,000-$60,000, respectively. In just the past two years, Hyundai has earned five AJAC category wins in addition to the title of 2012 Canadian Car of the Year with the Elantra sedan.

"The AJAC testing method is one of the most rigorous in the world," noted Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "The Elantra GT and Santa Fe came out on top by virtue of their style, versatility, and value. These two all-new vehicles are a perfect representation of the continued evolution of the Hyundai brand."

The company's Certified Pre-Owned vehicle program sold 1,027 units for the month to bring the year-to-date total to 10,286, representing increases of 40.7% and 268%, respectively.
