TORONTO, Feb. 13, 2013 /CNW/ - Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. today announced that the Genesis premium sedan has earned the 2013 Canadian Black Book Award for Best Retained Value in the "Full-size Car" category. The Canadian Black Book Retained Value Awards recognize the vehicles that maintain the highest percentage of their original Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) after four years on-sale. Canadian Black Book is the Canadian automotive industry's leading source for used vehicle valuation.
"When the Genesis sedan was launched to critical acclaim in 2008, our intention was to redefine customers' perception of the Hyundai brand," said Steve Kelleher, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. "By creating a world-class luxury sedan capable of standing toe-to-toe with established premium models, we shocked the industry. Our success is further confirmed today with the announcement that Genesis holds it value better than any other model in the Canadian full-size car segment."
"It is exciting to see the Hyundai Genesis win our Full-size Car award, representing the first Korean-manufactured vehicle ever to win a Canadian Black Book Retained Value Award," added Josh Bailey, Vice-President, Research and Editorial, Canadian Black Book.
Shortly after its introduction, the Genesis was named Canadian Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year for 2009. The Genesis' advanced safety technologies were also recognized with five-star crash safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Top Safety Picks from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Propelled by powerful V6 or V8 engines, the Genesis is built on Hyundai's proprietary rear-wheel drive architecture. Incorporated are all the premium technologies and amenities buyers expect in a luxury sedan. Available features include heated front and rear seats, a ventilated driver's seat, a heated steering wheel, proximity keyless entry with push-button ignition, a power-operated rear sunshade, an 8-inch touch-screen navigation system, and a 608 watt, 17-speaker Lexicon® audio system with 7.1 discrete surround sound, among many others. Genesis is also equipped with advanced convenience features such as adaptive auto-cornering HID headlights, adaptive cruise control, and a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS).
The Genesis nameplate celebrated its best-ever year in 2012 with total sales of 1,206 units.
