$20 Million (CAD) Investment Over Four Years in Montreal to Scale Business Operations
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. and MONTREAL, Dec. 15, 2015 /CNW/ -- i2c, a global provider of smarter payments and integrated commerce solutions, today announced it will open a new North American operations center in Montréal, Québec to facilitate ongoing company and customer growth. Due to be operational in the first quarter of 2016, the Montréal office will be the fourth international office opened in the past 18 months and will house over 50 new employees within the first year.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, i2c enables financial institutions, corporations, brands, and governments to seamlessly launch and profitably manage credit, debit, prepaid, and next-gen payments and commerce products with its single, global, cloud-based platform.
With this new office located in the heart of downtown Montréal, i2c is building out its operations and service infrastructure, with additional IT operations staff, account management, R&D, and contact center employees. The company will be creating over 50 new positions within first year of its operations, with plans to add more in the following years. The Montréal global operations center represents a $20 million (CAD) investment over four years.
"i2c's growth trajectory is very strong across the globe, and our approach is to take proactive steps to prepare for the future needs of our business by building sizeable, centralized service delivery and operations centers," said Amir Wain, i2c's founder and CEO. "Our new Montréal operations center will enable us to scale all parts of our business in an ideal geographical location with a world-class, international workforce."
Montreal is an ideal location for i2c's North American operations center because it is an internationally recognized destination that offers a highly-skilled, multilingual talent pool and competitive operating costs. i2c worked closely with economic development agency Investissement Québec to find the right location. Wain commented, "Investissement Québec was an invaluable partner in helping us make the best choices for our business and establish a strong foundation. Montréal is a world-class city that offers an outstanding quality of life, and we look forward to playing an important role in Montréal's vibrant fintech community."
"We are delighted to see California-based i2c opening an IT operations center and call center in Montréal," said Jacques Daoust, Québec's Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports. "i2c chose Québec because of its favorable tax regime for technology companies and ready access to a qualified, bilingual workforce. In addition to creating some 50 jobs, the arrival of a forward-looking business like i2c will confirm Montréal's position as a hub for finance-oriented IT."
"i2C is a key player in its field, and I am confident that its Montréal office will see substantial growth in the coming years," noted Pierre Gabriel Côté, President and CEO of Investissement Québec. "The new office in Montréal is the direct result of the work done by our Los Angeles office, which identified i2C and worked with it to showcase Québec's competitive advantages. I am proud of our team's efforts on this front, and it's quite a coup for Montréal."
