TORONTO, Feb. 10, 2016 /CNW/ - Stefan Sjöstrand president of IKEA Canada, has been selected as the 2015 Communicator of the Year by the International Association of Business Communicators/Toronto.
This prestigious award is bestowed annually to an industry leader in the Greater Toronto Area who inspires and engages internal and external audiences and clearly demonstrates the link between excellence in communications and an organization's success. Previous recipients include: Peter Aceto, President and CEO Tangerine, Hazel McCallion, former mayor of Mississauga, and Dr. Alan Middleton, Executive Director, Schulich, Executive Education Centre.

This sentiment was echoed by the judging panel who were particularly impressed with Mr. Sjöstrand's commitment to communicating to IKEA's many stakeholders in a wide-range of ways including weekly blog and video updates for employees: discussion with politicians on IKEA's commitment to sustainability and climate; and releasing financial results to the public – the first private company in Canada to do so.
