Ian Brodie to Join The School of Public Policy as Director of Research

CALGARY, June 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Jack Mintz, Director and Palmer Chair of The School of Public Policy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ian Brodie as its Director of Research, effective immediately.

Ian Brodie rejoins the University of Calgary from the Inter-American Development Bank, where he was Strategic Advisor since 2009. Brodie worked for Prime Minister Stephen Harper for six years, including three years as his Chief of Staff and two years as Executive Director of the Conservative Party of Canada. He played a central role in the 2006 Conservative campaign and the first three years of the Harper Government.

Brodie was previously a tenured professor of political science at Western University and formerly taught at Mount Royal College. He earned his PhD in political science at the University of Calgary in 1997 and his master's thesis won the U of C Governor General's Gold Medal in 1992. Brodie's undergraduate degree is from McGill.
