TORONTO, Jan. 18, 2016 /CNW/ - Ever since it was revealed that Molson Canadian was behind the rooftop rink that appeared in downtown Toronto, Canadians have been asking one question: How can I get on it? After listening to its fans online, Molson Canadian is pleased to announce that it will be extending the duration of its #AnythingForHockey rooftop rink to allow for group bookings, as well as launching a second contest that will give more fans an opportunity to get called up.
While originally built specifically for Molson Canadian's #AnythingForHockey contest, which launched in October 2015, the overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans has spearheaded the decision to keep the ice open passed its original closure of Friday, January 29th, until Sunday, February 7th.
"The rink was built for our lucky contest winners and was going to be dismantled after we filmed the incredible experience, but after listening to our fans online, we simply had to open the doors to other passionate Canadians," says Chris Blackburn, Director of Marketing, Molson Canadian. "Although maintaining the ice and the rental space comes at a large cost to the brand, we want this once-in-a-lifetime hockey experience to be available to as many fans as possible."
Fans will now have two ways to make their own rooftop rink dreams come true.
"We have also extended ice time to some of our corporate partners, thanking them for their ongoing support," adds Blackburn. "Their contributions to Molson Canadian have helped us create this once-in-a-lifetime hockey rink for our fans."
Because access to the rooftop rink is subject to weather, Molson Canadian is reserving some dates to accommodate guests whose booking may be interrupted. If Toronto's weather cooperates in the coming weeks, that additional ice time will be made available to allow as many guests as possible on the rink.
