Donations from All 24 Canadian IHOP Restaurants Will Help Provide Financial Assistance to Active and Former Canadian Armed Forces Members and Families
GLENDALE, Calif., Oct. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --In honour of the brave sacrifices made by fallen Canadian service men and women, and as a gesture of thanks to those currently serving, all 24 IHOP® restaurants operating in Canada will offer guests plastic poppies in the hopes that they make a donation to The Royal Canadian Legion. Poppies, the traditional flower worn to honour service men and women, will be available Friday, October 30 through Remembrance Day, November 11.
The Royal Canadian Legion is the largest veteran and community support organization in Canada. All donations from IHOP guests will go towards providing financial assistance to both actively-serving and former Canadian Armed Forces members, as well as the families of service-members in need; The Royal Canadian Legion provides grants for food, clothing, medical expenses, and essential home repairs, among other costs.
"IHOP is proud to join this effort to support The Royal Canadian Legion and their tireless efforts to help those brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the Canadian Armed Forces and who, in all too many instances, have given their lives for their country," said Daniel del Olmo, President, International, DineEquity, Inc., parent company of IHOP restaurants and Applebee's® Grill and Bar. "We hope our guests will accept these symbols of sacrifice for freedom and give generously to help the organization help all those whose efforts have been vital in keeping Canada safe and free."
Guests will be able to leave cash or cheque donations in The Royal Canadian Legion donation boxes at all IHOP restaurants throughout Canada, with cheques made payable to "The Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund." IHOP restaurants currently operate in Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.
