IKEA is handing out 18,000 free moving boxes in Montreal until July 1
BURLINGTON, ON, June 26, 2012 /CNW/ - Fireworks may be going off across Canada on Sunday July 1, but for many residents in Quebec the sparks will be flying to get packed up and moved before leases expire. To help out, IKEA will be moving through Montreal with a delivery truck full of 16,000 moving boxes between Wednesday, June 27 and Saturday, June 30. The truck is fitted with a GPS tracker so people can get real-time updates on its location through IKEA Canada's Facebook and Twitter sites; www.facebook.com/IKEACanada and @IKEACanada.
In addition to the mobile truck, the furniture giant will also be giving out 2,000 free boxes attached to street level billboards at 20 locations around the city of Montreal from Monday, June 25 to Sunday, July 1. To help make packing easier, passers-by are welcome to help themselves to the boxes. The boxes are printed with a helpful meatball dinner offer for people whose kitchens aren't set up yet and a great discount offer for those who are looking to decorate their new home.
"At IKEA, we aim to interact with our customers in a way that is meaningful to their lives, while having some fun." Says Madeleine Löwenborg-Frick, Public Relations Manager, IKEA Canada. "We know that moving boxes are hard to come by, and this way we can help both with providing the boxes and the handy offers that come printed on them."
Each box is made of 85% recycled material and can be brought back to an IKEA store after moving day to be recycled properly.
