IKEA Canada Continues Expansion Efforts with New Pick-Up and Order Point in St. Catharines, ON Français
BURLINGTON, ON, Sept. 28, 2015 /CNW/ - IKEA Canada announced today that St. Catharines, Ontario will serve as the next Pick-Up and Order Point location at Fairview Mall, 285 Geneva Street. The location, slated to open in spring 2016, will allow customers who have shopped online or at an IKEA store to pick up their products closer to where they live.
IKEA currently has 12 stores across Canada as well as two Pick-Up and Order Points under construction in Quebec City and London, Ontario. The company sees great growth potential in opening Pick-Up and Order Points, whose format is part of a global test pilot, in markets where there are currently no stores.
"We are always looking for ways to become more accessible to our customers" says Stefan Sjöstrand, President, IKEA Canada. "These new Pick-up and Order Point locations are designed to make shopping with us more convenient by providing easy access to our products faster."
Customers will now have the opportunity to interact with the IKEA brand in smart, new and convenient ways. The new Pick-Up and Order Point location will reduce delivery times and costs for customers at the same time as delivering inspiration and services. The new location in St. Catharines will feature a home furnishing inspiration area as well as stations to support customers with their planning process. In addition, customers will now be able to buy services to support their purchases, and sit at a computer station to browse and make online purchases from www.IKEA.ca.
"It's an exciting time for our city and I'm very pleased to welcome IKEA to St. Catharines," says Walter Sendzik, Mayor of the City of St. Catharines. "This investment highlights many of the benefits of doing business in St. Catharines - we are conveniently located between the GTHA and the U.S. border, in the heart of the Niagara Region and we have an experienced and educated workforce. We are investment ready and proud to become a part of the growing IKEA Canada network. "
"We're excited to become a part of the St. Catharines community and look forward to creating new jobs for local residents," continues Sjöstrand. "St. Catharines is a lively and vibrant community, making it the perfect place for our next Pick-Up and Order Point location."
IKEA will be hiring roughly 35 co-workers to support the new Pick-Up and Order Point. Co-workers will be welcomed into an engaging environment with a strong focus on people and their professional growth.
