There have been no reported injuries in Canada
BURLINGTON, ON, April 30, 2015 /CNW/ - While no incidents of injuries have been reported to IKEA worldwide, IKEA Canada is initiating a precautionary recall on SULTAN crib mattresses today. The SULTAN range of crib mattresses have not been sold in Canada since August 2010, however IKEA is urging customers who have purchased a SULTAN crib mattress in the past to measure the gap between the mattress and crib to ensure the gap is not greater than 3 cm. The recall is being initiated as a result of one SULTAN crib mattress being found to be non-compliant.
The safety of everyone who comes into contact with our products is of the utmost importance to IKEA; therefore we adhere to the strictest global standard on product safety. Both Health Canada and IKEA follow the ASTM standard, from the United States, for how to measure a crib mattress.
How to measure gap:
If customers do not have a gap greater than 3 cm between mattress and crib ends, there is no need for action.
IKEA is asking all customers who find a greater than 3 cm gap to contact the Returns & Exchange department at their local store or to call Customer Service toll free at 1-800-661-9807 for an exchange or refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required by IKEA for this recall.
