IKEA Canada Voluntarily Recalls LYDA jumbo cups

There have been no reports of injury in Canada

BURLINGTON, ON, June 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, IKEA Canada has initiated a voluntary recall on the LYDA jumbo cup. While there have been no incidents reported in Canada, the cups can break when hot liquid is poured into them, creating a potential burn hazard.

At IKEA, the safety and security of everyone who comes into contact with our product is a top priority.  IKEA asks that all customers who have a LYDA jumbo cup to immediately stop using the cup and return to it to an IKEA store for a full refund.

Units: 6,000 pieces in Canada

Hazard:  The cups can break when hot liquid is poured into them, creating a potential burn hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: While there have been no incidents in Canada, IKEA has received twenty reports globally of the cup breaking in use.

Description:  This recall involves the LYDA jumbo cup with model number 30203379. The cup is made of stoneware and has a rose design on it.

Sold exclusively at: IKEA globally from August 2012 through April 2013 for $4.99.

Manufactured in: Thailand

Remedy:  Return to any IKEA store for a full refund.
