IKO Helps Contractors Run the Numbers to Bigger Sales and Profits
Leading manufacturer of roofing and related products creates interactive worksheet to do the math
KANKAKEE, IL, Aug. 7, 2013 /CNW/ - IKO, a North American pioneer and global leader in the roofing materials business, recently uploaded a new video to its proprietary YouTube Channel. Designed specifically for IKO's contractor network, it introduces a free tool to make sales forecasting, ad budgeting and other business activities easier.
Director of Marketing, Carol Perkins, says that more and more contractors are starting to realize how much information there is on the IKORoof Channel to help them grow their businesses.
"IKO has always believed in partnering with its contractor network and distributors. As they grow in their businesses, so we grow as a company. Feedback is encouraged and listened to. Some of our greatest innovations have been inspired by those who are working in the field and dealing directly with homeowners."
The latest video aimed at contractors features John De Rosa, Manager of Sales and Contractor Development. His simple, straightforward manner goes a long way in taking the pain and mystery out of crunching the numbers.
He starts off by discussing two factors that influence so many other calculations: the lead rate and the close rate. DeRosa demonstrates how tracking the number of calls received can lead to greater sales and profits. Then knowing what percentage of sales calls leads to signed contracts can help contractors determine if their pricing is right on the money or if they're leaving money on the table and need to raise their prices.
Based on knowing the lead rate and the close rate, DeRosa takes the viewer through a number of other calculations that are clearly shown and explained. Contractors learn how to project annual sales, determine net profit goals and adjust their advertising spend by concentrating on the most profitable sources.
They can also work backward to figure out how many sales calls they'll need to make and how much they'll have to spend on advertising in order to achieve the annual sales and profit goals they set for themselves.
According to DeRosa, the simple exercise of running the numbers ultimately helps contractors improve their selling skills. He brings the calculations full circle at the end and invites the viewer to contact IKO for a free worksheet that he has designed. It does the math for them.
