Illuminite lights up Yonge-Dundas Square for the holidays
TORONTO, Nov. 13, 2013 /CNW/ - Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (DYBIA) promises to deliver a spectacular kick-off to the 2013 holiday season with Illuminite, the annual lighting ceremony at Yonge-Dundas Square, this Saturday.
"Illuminite is our way of marking the holidays with our whole community, and we want to both surprise and delight all our visitors," says DYBIA executive director Mark Garner.
This year, headline act Heliosphere is expected to do just that, performing acrobatic aerial feats in the night sky while suspended from a magical, helium-filled balloon.
City Sports Anchor and Reporter Hugh Burrill will be hosting the evening's festivities.
Live choirs will fill the Square with music, while fabulously-outfitted performers and futuristic-themed routines will surprise and delight at every turn. A special guest DJ will keep the party going, before and after the lighting ceremony.
Illuminite is made possible by two, innovative partnerships forged by the DYBIA.
Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens is the presenting sponsor for the second year in a row.
Entertainment is co-presented with Creativiva, a creative agency that specializes in crafting unique experiences to captivate an audience's imagination.
"Downtown Yonge BIA would like to express our appreciation for their support of our community and this event in particular," adds Garner.
Illuminite takes place on Saturday November 16, 2013 at Yonge-Dundas Square at 6p.m.
