TORONTO, April 9, 2014 /CNW/ - Bruce MacDonald has been named the new President and CEO of Imagine Canada, the national umbrella for the charitable sector. Board Chair Stéphane Vaillancourt announced today that MacDonald will begin his duties effective July 14.
MacDonald has an impressive track record in the sector most recently serving as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.
"Bruce is the ideal person to lead Imagine Canada," says Vaillancourt. "He was the unanimous choice of the search committee, is bilingual, has extensive experience as a leader in our sector and has exceptional skills in marketing."
MacDonald says he is looking forward to this new role. "I am thrilled to be moving to another dynamic organization - one that is providing great leadership for the charitable sector. I am honoured to have been selected to contribute to the future direction of Imagine Canada and am looking forward to the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead."
Bruce takes over from Marcel Lauzière who led the organization with distinction for the past five and a half years. Until Bruce takes up his position, Senior Vice President Cathy Barr will serve as Acting President and CEO of Imagine Canada.
The search committee wishes to acknowledge that its work was supported by the Executive Search Practice at KCI (Ketchum Canada Inc.)
Imagine Canada is a national charitable organization whose cause is Canada's charities. Our three broad goals are to strengthen the sector's collective voice, create opportunities to connect and learn from each other, and build the sector's capacity to succeed.
