Imagine1day and Educate A Child (EAC) partner to launch $3M Community Driven Primary Education for All project in Ethiopia; $438,000.00 already raised locally to support initiative.

VANCOUVER, Sept. 21, 2015 /CNW/ - Vancouver based charity, imagine1day and Educate A Child (EAC) announced today a new partnership aimed at increasing primary school enrollment of more than 32,000 current "out-of-school" children across five districts in Ethiopia.  This represents an increase in primary school net enrollment from 66% in 2015 to 89% by 2018.

The three year initiative named the "Community Driven Primary Education For All" project, is being made possible through a $1.5 million funding grant from EAC, to be equally matched by imagine1day for a total investment of $3Million.  Fundraising by imagine1day for the project kicked off the evening of September 18^th, at the home of Chip and Shannon Wilson, in partnership with Nicola Wealth Management, where 100 guests were introduced to the work being done by imagine1day in Ethiopia.

"This project will tackle some of the most challenging issues Ethiopia is currently facing in achieving universal primary education, and we are thrilled to be working in partnership with EAC, who share in our holistic approach to creating access to equitable quality primary education," said Scott Elliott, CEO of imagine1day.  "Together, we can have a significant impact on individuals and communities by breaking through barriers that prevent children from enrolling, attending and remaining in school."

The "Community Driven Primary Education" project is not the first time that these two organizations have partnered in order to advance their shared vision of eliminating obstacles to enable children to realize their right to an education.  In 2014, EAC and imagine1day partnered on the "Bale Out Of School Children Initiative" project, that reduced the number of out of school children by more than 14,900 across two districts in the Bale Zone of the Oromia Region since 2014 .

Execution for the "Community Driven Primary Education" project will begin immediately, and will be undertaken by imagine1day, drawing on the charity's significant experience with working as a direct implementer of educational programming in Ethiopia since 2007.
