IMAX® and Warner Bros. Pictures' Island of Lemurs: Madagascar opens on June 27 at the Ontario Science Centre
TORONTO, June 24, 2014 /CNW/ - IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures' Island of Lemurs: Madagascar will open at the Ontario Science Centre on June 27. The spectacular documentary journey to the remote and wondrous world of Madagascar, which highlights the incredible true story of nature's greatest explorers, lemurs, is narrated by Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman. Tickets are on sale at www.ontariosciencecentre.ca.
"There is no doubt about it: lemurs are cute creatures and audiences will immediately fall in love with these adorable animals," said Maurice Bitran, CEO, Ontario Science Centre. "However, we hope that audiences will also take away the more serious message of animal conservation that the film's main scientist Dr. Patricia C. Wright has been advocating for years. In 1991, Dr. Wright's advocacy led to the creation of Ranomafana National Park for the conservation of lemurs in Madagascar. This past May, Dr. Wright was awarded the Indianapolis Prize, which includes a US$250,000 grant, for her animal conservation work with the lemurs of Madagascar."
Island of Lemurs: Madagascar reteams Freeman, who has one of the most distinctive voices in the movie business, with Drew Fellman, who also wrote and produced the 2011 IMAX documentary spectacle Born to Be Wild. David Douglas serves as director of the film, which features trailblazing scientist Patricia Wright, an expert on lemurs and the wildlife of Madagascar.
Island of Lemurs: Madagascar has been rated G.
