Immigration consultants gather in Vancouver to connect and learn at National
Conference
VANCOUVER, Nov. 18 /CNW/ - Nearly 200 members of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants (CSIC) are gathering in Vancouver today for interaction and education at CSIC's national education conference, entitled "Ideas in Action."
This is the first time CSIC has hosted a national conference in Vancouver. To mark the occasion CBC news anchor and Gemini award winner Ian Hanomansing will deliver a keynote address on his personal immigration experience and his thoughts about the Canadian immigration tradition.
"Our members are coming together today to absorb important information that will help them provide better service to their clients," said CSIC Chair Nigel Thomson. "But the conference is also a time to reflect on what it means to be an immigration consultant. Mr. Hanomansing's address will remind us that we are not just providing a service, we're helping people live their dreams."
In addition, at tonight's Chair's reception, CSIC will honour six exceptional members who have been recognized as subjects for CSIC's Member Spotlight.
"These six members have brought pride to their profession and hope to their communities," said Thomson. "They represent the very best and I look forward to giving them some special recognition this evening."
The Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants is the professional regulatory body for Certified Canadian Immigration Consultants. Established in 2004 it currently has nearly 1,800 members. CSIC's mandate is to protect consumers of immigration consulting services. Consequently, it is responsible for ensuring the education, competency testing and the discipline of its members. CSIC also requires its members to carry errors and omissions insurance and to contribute to a compensation fund. The best way to find a CCIC is via CSIC's toll free referral line, 1-877-311-7926.
