- Annual campaign surpasses $4 million for second consecutive year
- Almost 1,000 employees and annuitants participated in Day of Caring events
- $170,000 raised from limited edition Esso United Way gift card program
CALGARY, May 3, 2012 /CNW/ - Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil Canada, in association with its employees and retirees, raised close to $4.2 for United Way-Centraide in 2011.
"Our employees and retirees have come together to demonstrate generosity and goodwill toward the communities where we live and work," said Bruce March, chairman, president and CEO of Imperial Oil. "We have a long, proud tradition of supporting United Way in Canada. We recognize the importance of their services in our community and have seen the difference they make to Canadians."
Imperial's 2011 United Way campaign was one of the most successful in company history on a variety of fronts. Funds raised topped the company's record-breaking 2010 campaign. Almost 1,000 employees and retirees across Canada participated as volunteers in Day of Caring activities, which benefited United Way-supported agencies across the country. Employees also took part in a variety of successful fundraising events.
Included in the overall campaign donation is $170,000 raised from the limited-edition $25 Esso United Way Gift Card program. For every card sold at participating Esso retail sites in Canada, Imperial donated $2 to the United Way.
