OTTAWA, May 2, 2014 /CNW/ - 5514 KM (the car seat importer) and Transport Canada are informing the public of a safety concern related to 618 Fisher Price Safe Voyage Grow-with-Me child car seats, Model FP3000C, manufactured by Team-Tex on August 22, 2013.
Issue: During a simulated crash test with a 6-year old test dummy and the restraint in a forward-facing position, the top tether strap tore out of the plastic back and the test dummy's head went forward beyond the allowable limit.
Safety Risk: In the event of a severe collision, children may not remain properly secured, increasing the risk of injury.
Company Action:
- Transport Canada and 5514 KM have actively investigated this issue.
- The Car Seat Group is replacing affected models, at no cost.
- Transport Canada issued a public notice on April 24, 2013, and more information about these car seats can be found on its website at: http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/motorvehiclesafety/safedrivers-childsafety-2014p03-1408.html.
Consumer Response: If your child uses this model, please check the manufacturing date on the label on the bottom of the seat:
If the date is August 22, 2013, your child's seat may be affected. 5514KM and Transport Canada recommend that you:
- Stop using it.
