Government of Canada supports community project of the Corporation pour la mise en valeur du quai de Portneuf
PORTNEUF, QC, April 18, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - (Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)) - Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects such as this one by the Corporation pour la mise en valeur du quai de Portneuf (the Corporation), which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that the Corporation has been granted $218,070 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to improve marine infrastructure at the Portneuf marina (website in French only), thereby furthering its mission as port of refuge for boaters in transit.
The Corporation, a non-profit organization, was created in 1995 and administers a marina with marine and surface facilities. The marina is managed by a board of directors made up of nine volunteers. The funding awarded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will help the Corporation replace almost all of the remaining floating wooden docks used by boaters in transit and visitors.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.

Through CIP150, the Government of Canada is supporting the projects of organizations like the Corporation pour la mise en valeur du quai de Portneuf, which mobilize and unite our communities and stimulate economic activity in Canada. Community and recreational infrastructure, such as that provided by the Portneuf marina, helps increase quality of life and create gathering places. Today, as it was 150 years ago, coming together to meet others enriches us all."

"We are delighted about this support from CED for this project. Improving the marine infrastructure will help us further the marina's mission as port of refuge, given that it is the only harbour between Québec City and Trois-Rivières on the river's north shore, and continue providing a safe and accessible gathering place.
