The Government of Canada is contributing $219,209 to the community project of this Municipality of Lac-Saint-Jean Est
HÉBERTVILLE-STATION, QC, July 20, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Key community players have long been asking for a real and sustainable way of improving local community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to support projects which, like the one in the Municipality of Hébertville-Station, contribute to the vitality and dynamism of every region of the country.
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, has announced, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and the Minister responsible for CED, that the Municipality of Hébertville-Station (Website in French only) will receive $219,209 in financial assistance, in the form of a non-repayable contribution, to renovate the basement of its community centre.
The Municipality of Hébertville-Station was founded in 1903. Senior groups such as Âge d'or (on the first floor) and the Maison des jeunes (in the basement) operate out of the community centre. The entire community (youth, families, groups of varying ages and seniors) can also use the centre for family celebrations and various receptions.
Funding awarded under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) will allow the municipality to renovate the building's basement. Demolition and architectural work will be carried out, as well as mechanical (plumbing, ventilation), and electrical and structural work (reinforcing beams and posts). Other work to be performed includes making the elevator platform accessible from the basement, renovating existing toilets, building a bathroom for people with reduced mobility, and painting and renovating the kitchen.
CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
