IMV Projects looks to Ireland and Scotland for employment candidates
Company to participate in Calgary Economic Development's Mission to Dublin and Glasgow
CALGARY, Oct. 2, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - IMV Projects, a Wood Group company, today announced that it will participate in Calgary Economic Development's (CED) "Labour Attraction Mission" to Ireland and Scotland.
CED, a corporation funded by the City of Calgary, private industry and other levels of government, is managing a comprehensive campaign to attract people to work and live in Calgary. CED is collaborating with Working Abroad, an Irish company that hosts employment expos in Europe, publishes Working Abroad magazine and manages a database of 60,000 employment candidates.
The cities of Dublin and Glasgow have been selected as locations for Working Abroad Fairs because of the quality and quantity of job-seekers in these regions. The rate of unemployment in Ireland is approximately 15%, in Scotland it is about 8%. By contrast, unemployment in Alberta is slightly higher than 4%. Along with neighboring Saskatchewan, Alberta enjoys the lowest unemployment in Canada.
Working Abroad Fairs will take place in Dublin on October 6 and 7, and in Glasgow on October 13 and 14. At least nine Calgary-based companies, representing the energy, construction and other sectors, will participate.
"We would like to thank Calgary Economic Development for the opportunity to participate in this mission and represent our city in Ireland and Scotland," says Kevin O'Brien, president, IMV Projects. "As a growing company in a very competitive sector, we cannot underestimate the importance of our people. We have successfully created a dynamic culture that rewards hard work, encourages diversity and gives back to our communities. As we continue to grow, we are continuously on the lookout for top talent - whether our people originate from Alberta, elsewhere In Canada or anywhere in the world. It is critically important to attract and retain the best individuals in the business, while maintaining the ability to further expand without compromising our standards. Taking a proactive role in managing our human resources needs is one of the best ways to guarantee client satisfaction in the future," concludes Mr. O'Brien.
