NORTH BAY, ON, July 9, 2015 /CNW/ - Until recently, the Remanufacturing and Repair division focused on refurbishing passenger rail cars and maintaining Ontario Northland equipment. The division expanded its capabilities over the past year and now offers locomotive overhauls, freight car repairs, wheel recalibrations and specialty paint services for large equipment.
Recent repair contracts include:
- Heavy repair on ore cars used in the mining industry;
- Lumber car repairs for several rail leasing companies;
- Heavy maintenance and repairs on a fleet of 300 box cars used in the newsprint industry; and
- Locomotive maintenance and engine rebuilds for a local railway company.
These opportunities are significant as they have resulted in the recall of railcar mechanics.
"I am very proud that our reputation for quality work and our enhanced sales efforts are attracting new business" said John Thib, Vice President. "Over the past year we have expanded our repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing services. Our customers appreciate that we operate our own railroad. We understand the challenges they face with equipment and can offer solutions because we too face them. We are committed to growing this part of our business and know that it enhances our local and regional economies."
Ontario Northland is committed to strengthening the organization in order to provide efficient transportation service and sustainable long-term employment in northeastern Ontario.
