TORONTO, Sept. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Viewers are encouraged to tune into THE MOB DOCTOR, Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, beginning Sept. 16 or else… risk missing one of the most anticipated new shows of the fall television season. Starring Jordana Spiro (HARRY'S LAW), the fast-paced medical crime drama follows a promising young surgeon, Dr. Grace Devlin (Spiro), who becomes indebted to the South Chicago mafia in order to pay off her brother's life-threatening gambling debt. THE MOB DOCTOR moves to a special pre-EMMY® AWARDS timeslot on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. ET before settling back into its regular Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot the following week (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

In the series premiere (Sept. 16), Dr. Grace Devlin (Spiro), who is a top resident at Chicago's Roosevelt Medical Center, is faced with the intense demands of being a surgeon and working off book for the mafia men she once despised. As she tries to heed the demands of these two conflicting worlds, the former head of the Southside mob, Constantine Alexander (Forsythe), stands by her, while her boss at Roosevelt Medical and Chief of Surgery, Dr. Stafford White (Ivanek), and her blue-blooded boyfriend (Gilford) remain unaware of her "other" life, and the moral dilemma in which she finds herself in.

THE MOB DOCTOR is a production of Sony Pictures Television. The series is created and written by Josh Berman DROP DEAD DIVA, BONES and Rob Wright (DROP DEAD DIVA, CROSSING JORDAN).
