Independent Police Oversight Review to Hold Public Consultation in Ottawa
TORONTO, Oct. 17, 2016 /CNW/ - The Honourable Justice Michael H. Tulloch has announced that the Independent Police Oversight Review will hold a public consultation in Ottawa on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The meeting will be held at the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health, 299 Montreal Road. Doors open at 5 p.m, meeting runs from 6p.m. to 8p.m.
The meeting is open to the public and to media. It will be webcast live on the Review's web page at http://www.policeoversightreview.ca/
Justice Tulloch was appointed by the Ontario government on April 29, 2016 to independently review the province's three oversight bodies, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) and the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC).
He has been holding public meetings across the province since his appointment to seek input into his recommendations. The meeting in Ottawa will be the eighth public consultation. Others have been held in the Toronto area, in Mississauga, Brampton, Thunder Bay and Sudbury.
In addition to the public meetings, Justice Tulloch has also been holding a series of stakeholder meetings across the province.
Justice Tulloch will deliver his report to the government by March 31, 2017.
