Independent Police Oversight Review to Hold Public Consultations in Hamilton and Toronto on Nov. 8 and Nov. 10 Français
TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2016 /CNW/ - The Honourable Justice Michael H. Tulloch has announced that the Independent Police Oversight Review will hold two public consultations this week -- one in Hamilton on Tuesday, November 8, and the other on Thursday, November 10, in Toronto.
The meeting in Hamilton will be held at the Hamilton Public Library, Hamilton Room Central Library, 55 York Blvd., Hamilton, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
The Toronto meeting will take place at Metro Hall, Room 308, 55 John Street, Toronto, also from 5:00pm to 8:00pm..
The meetings are open to the public and to media. The Hamilton meeting will be webcast live on the Review's web page at http://www.policeoversightreview.ca/. A recording of the Toronto meeting will be posted at a later date.
Justice Tulloch was appointed by the Ontario government on April 29, 2016 to independently review the province's three oversight bodies, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) and the Ontario Civilian Police Commission (OCPC).
He has been holding public meetings across the province since his appointment to seek input into his recommendations. The meeting in Hamilton will be the 10th public consultation. Others have been held in the Toronto area, in Mississauga, Brampton, Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Ottawa and Ajax. More are scheduled for Windsor, London, Kingston, Oshawa, York Region and Kitchener. In addition to the public meetings, Justice Tulloch has also been holding a series of stakeholder meetings across the province.
Justice Tulloch will deliver his report to the government by March 31, 2017.
