The Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame welcomes three iconic tourism industry builders, among which the Founder of Just for Laughs, Gilbert Rozon, on the sidelines of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada's Congress.
MONTREAL, Nov. 22, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The induction of Gilbert Rozon, President Founder of Just for Laughs, to the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame, was celebrated during a luncheon, in the presence of Honorary President, the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism). Presented during the Tourism Congress of The Tourism Industry of Canada, held from November 19th to 21st, in Gatineau, this award recognizes the commitment and passion of industry pioneers in their respective fields. Mrs Christiane Germain, copresident of Groupe Germain, presented and commended Mr. Rozon.
As head of the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, the biggest comedy festival in the world, Gilbert Rozon also stands out in tourism, through his involvement in the Performance committee of the tourism industry of Quebec. The report that emerged from this consultative effort led to important budgetary gains for tourism development. Gilbert Rozon now chairs the Advisory Committee for Tourism of Quebec's tourism Industry Association and has been recently appointed commissioner for the celebrations of Montreal's 375th anniversary.
Mr. Rick Antonson, President and CEO of Tourism Vancouver, and Mr. Klaus W. Roth, Tourism Marketing Strategist in the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Alberta (posthumously), were also inducted to the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame during this luncheon.
The Tourism Industry Association of Canada, which includes over 300 members, is the only national organization representing the full cross-section of Canada's $78.8 billion tourism industry. This industry represents more than 157 000 enterprises, and created 603 400 directs jobs, as well as 1.7 million salaried employees and self-employed positions. Created in 2006 by the Tourism Association of Canada, the Canadian Tourism Hall of Fame publicly recognizes those individuals that have made tourism an important part of their life's work and whose actions have impacted positively on the industry they serve.
