Industry leader Scott Williams joins Avison Young in Philadelphia
Leading broker becomes Principal, will represent suburban office and industrial clients
PHILADELPHIA, PA, Aug. 6, 2014 /CNW/ - David Fahey, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Philadelphia office, announced today that highly regarded commercial real estate broker Scott Williams has joined the firm in Philadelphia.
Effective immediately, Williams becomes a Principal and will represent office and industrial clients in Philadelphia's suburban markets, facilitating sales and leasing transactions. He was most recently Senior Vice-President of the commercial division at Binswanger.
"We are very excited to have Scott join our team in Philadelphia. Scott is a true market specialist with superior local intelligence," comments Fahey. "Scott is very experienced in all facets of commercial real estate transactions and focuses on delivering the highest level of service to all of his clients. Avison Young will benefit – and grow – from his deep local knowledge of suburban Philadelphia markets and the strong client relationships that he has developed during his career. He will also be vital to us as we continue to implement our U.S. expansion program in other East Coast markets and across the country."
Williams brings 21 years of varied commercial real estate experience to Avison Young. Prior to joining Binswanger, he served as Director of Operations at Nason and Cullen, Inc. Before becoming a broker in the U.S., he served as a project executive and Principal at Williams Elm Construction in Sydney, Australia. Williams is seasoned in project leasing, investment sales, acquisitions, tenant representation and site selection. During his career in the U.S., he has completed more than $95 million in property acquisitions and dispositions, negotiated leases covering in excess of 2.5 million square feet, and provided advisory services on properties with a combined value of approximately $65 million.
During his career, Williams has received numerous industry awards, including Costar Power Broker of the Year (2012) and CII Broker of the Year for commercial sales, commercial leasing and retail sales in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. Williams holds a Bachelor's degree in project management from Australia's Sydney University. In his community, he serves on local non-profit boards, including the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA and Charlestown Playhouse in Charlestown, PA.
Avison Young opened its Philadelphia office in September 2013 as part of the firm's ongoing, aggressive U.S. expansion strategy. Over the past five years, the company has grown from 11 to 58 offices and from 300 to more than 1,500 real estate professionals across Canada, the U.S., and in Europe.
"My new position at Avison Young provides an exciting opportunity to join the world's fastest-growing commercial real estate services company and be part of its unique, collaborative culture," says Williams. "The chance to become part of Avison Young's Principal-based ownership group stood out as a clear differentiator when I was considering my career options. Most importantly, I will be able to offer a full range of real estate services to local, national and international clients doing business in suburban Philadelphia."
Today's announcement comes on the heels of Avison Young's acquiring Sacramento-based Aguer Havelock Associates, Inc. on July 24, 2014.
Avison Young is the world's fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Avison Young is a collaborative, global firm owned and operated by its principals.
