Infiniti Canada Announces Pricing and Official Fuel Economy Estimates for
All-New 2011 Infiniti M37 and M56 Performance Luxury Sedans
- Greatly Enhanced Content and Value Combined with Larger, More Powerful V6 and V8 Engines Producing Improved Fuel Economy Numbers -
MISSISSAUGA, ON, March 2 /CNW/ - Infiniti Canada today released pricing and official fuel economy estimates for the 2011 Infiniti M performance luxury sedan. Along with the next-generation M's greatly enhanced style, performance, luxury, craftsmanship and technology, the newly designated M37 and M56 models now boast improved fuel economy estimates.
New for 2011 is a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) 3.7-litre M37 model and priced at $52,400 CDN, it now allows the V6 starting price to be $3,100 less than the 2010 model. Similarly, the new 5.6-litre M56 model is also available in RWD this year and is priced $3,350 less than the 2010 V8 model.
Prices for the 330-horsepowered 2011 M37 AWD model start at Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $54,900 CDN which is $600 less than 2010 V6 Pricing. MSRP for the 420-horsepowered 2011 M56 AWD starts at $68,700 CDN which is $850 less than the previous V8. Both models include new content, such as:
- All-new exterior design - 7-speed automatic transmission - Infiniti Drive Mode Selector - Power folding side view mirrors - Front door handle courtesy lights - Active Noise Control - RearView Monitor - Enhanced Intelligent Key memory (audio, navigation and climate control settings)
The 2011 M not only offers more value and enhanced content but the flagship sedan now boasts fuel efficiency gains of up to 1.7 L/100 kms versus 2010 M models.
The 2011 M horsepower, torque, fuel economy figures, and increases compared to the previous generation models, are:
------------------------------------------------------------------------- MY 2011 M37 M37x M56 M56x ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Horsepower (hp) 330 (+27) 330 (+27) 420 (+95) 420 (+95) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Torque (lb-ft) 270 (+8) 270 (+8) 417 (+81) 417 (+81) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- City L/100 KM 11.4 12.0 (-1.3) 12.9 13.4 (-1.7) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Highway L/100 KM 7.6 8.3 (-0.8) 8.0 8.5 (-1.7) -------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The all-new 2011 Infiniti M's powertrains offer both increased power and efficiency," said Wendy Durward, Director, Infiniti Canada. "Our V6 power is up nine per cent to 330 horsepower, while V8 power is up almost 30 per cent to 420 horsepower and torque is increased 24 per cent to 417 lb-ft - while amazingly taking off 1.7 L/100 km Highway for the M56x and 0.8 L/100 km Highway for the all-wheel drive M37x."
Multiple advanced technologies allow the new Infiniti M to provide these increases in power and torque while also improving fuel efficiency across all model offerings. The 3.7-litre V6 and all-new 5.6-litre V8 engine both utilize Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) to optimize both intake and exhaust valve timing. Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology is also applied to the intake valves on both the V6 and V8 engines to improve performance, emissions and fuel efficiency.
In addition, Direct Injection Gasoline(TM) technology is applied to the all-new 5.6-liter V8, providing more precise combustion control to optimize emissions, fuel economy and torque. An electronically controlled 7-speed automatic is applied as the standard transmission on all 2011 M models. As a result of the improved fuel economy figures, the $1,200 gas guzzler tax (in province of Ontario) previously assessed on the 2010 M45x is dramatically reduced on the 2011 M56x to just $75.
"It's an impressive feat of engineering to not only gain 95 horsepower and 81 ft-lb of torque while also improving fuel efficiency for the new V8," added Durward. "Most of all, however, we think buyers will be impressed by the smooth, responsive performance of both the new V6 and V8. Power plus efficiency - that's a great definition of Inspired Performance."
The all-new 2011 Infiniti M is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide beginning March 18, 2011.
