Information Picket to Highlight Bus, Rail and Ferry Cuts in Maritimes to be held Thursday, October 11
HALIFAX, Oct. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - An information picket to highlight the impact of the pending closure of Acadian Bus Lines in the Maritime Provinces, cuts to east coast VIA Rail services and the closure of the Yarmouth Ferry will be held in Halifax on Thursday, October 11.
The information picket will be held Thursday from 11 am to 1 pm on Hollis Street in Victoria Park, across from the VIA Rail station.
The CAW represents 40 members at Acadian Bus in Nova Scotia, which is slated to close Nov 30, 2012. They also represent 250 members at VIA throughout Atlantic Canada. In addition the CAW represented 50 workers on the Yarmouth Ferry Service, which the provincial government cancelled in 2010.
An information picket protesting Maritime transportation cuts was also held in Moncton, New Brunswick on Wednesday, October 10.
