Inquest into the death of Jeramie Taylor announced

HAMILTON, ON, Aug. 16 /CNW/ - Dr. Jack Stanborough, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Jeramie Taylor.
Mr. Taylor, age 35, died on September 11, 2009, while in custody at the Niagara Detention Centre in Thorold. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Taylor's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately 10 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at time 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday September 15, 2010, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, 59 Church Street, St. Catharines. Dr. Darryl Wolski will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Gabriele Settimi will be counsel to the coroner.
