Inquest into the death of John Bedard announced

KINGSTON, ON, March 2 /CNW/ - Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of John Bedard.
Mr. Bedard, 58, died on April 8, 2009, while in custody at the Regional Hospital of the Kingston Penitentiary. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Bedard's death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last one day.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour Complex, 53 Yonge Street, Kingston. Dr. Gordon Watt will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Priscilla Christie will be counsel to the coroner.
