Inquest into the death of Levi Schaeffer announced

THUNDER BAY, ON, July 29 /CNW/ - Dr. Michael B. Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Levi Schaeffer.
Mr. Schaeffer, 30, died on June 24, 2009, in the Osnaburgh Lake area following his involvement with the Ontario Provincial Police. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Schaeffer's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last five days and to hear from approximately 12 witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2010, at the Government Building, 189 Red River Road, Thunder Bay. Dr. David H. Evans will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Dan Mitchell will be counsel to the coroner.
