Inquest into the death of Norman Clairmont announced

KINGSTON, ON, July 26 /CNW/ - Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Norman Clairmont.
Mr. Clairmont, 57, died on April 8, 2009, while in custody at the Regional Hospital of the Kingston Penitentiary. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Clairmont's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last one day.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Superior Court of Justice, 5 Court Street, Kingston. Dr. Gordon Watt will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Janet O'Brien will be counsel to the coroner.
