Inquest into the death of Salvatore Ruscica announced

TORONTO, May 26 /CNW/ - Dr. Bonita Porter, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Salvatore Ruscica.
Mr. Ruscica, 47, died on November 10, 2007, at the Rouge Valley Ajax Pickering Hospital in Ajax following his arrest by the Durham Regional Police Service. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Ruscica's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last five days and will hear from approximately eight witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010, at the Durham Region courthouse, 150 Bond Street East, Oshawa. Dr. William Lucas, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Brampton Office, will preside as inquest coroner and
Mr. Fred Stephens will be counsel to the coroner.
