INQUEST INTO THE DEATH OF SAMUEL JOHN COLLINS ANNOUNCED

KINGSTON, ON, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - Dr. Roger Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner for East Region, Kingston Office, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Samuel Collins.
Mr. Collins, 65, died April 17, 2009, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Ottawa. Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a worker dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project.
The inquest will review the circumstances surrounding Mr. Collins' death and will explore issues relating to safety at construction sites. The inquest jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last two days.
The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 2010, at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, 11th Floor, 160 Elgin Street, Ottawa. Dr. Gordon Watt will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Vivian Lee Stewart will be counsel to the coroner.
