Library to host conference connecting youth to professional authors
TORONTO, Oct. 12 /CNW/ - Toronto Public Library will host the annual Young Voices Writers Conference to give Toronto youth an opportunity to work directly with professional writers and authors, perform at an open mic and get published in an instant anthology.
The free conference, scheduled Saturday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at North York Central Library (5120 Yonge Street), still has a few spots available but young writers (ages 12 to 19) are encouraged to register early.
Award-winning presenters include Richard Scarsbrook (fiction writing), Sandy Arbuthnot (web publishing), John Crossingham (songwriting), Willow Dawson (graphic novels), Lesley Livingston (fantasy), Rosemary Mosco (short stories), Al St. Louis (spoken word) and Toronto Public Library writer-in-residence Allan Stratton, at the writers' table.
