MONTREAL, July 10, 2013 /CNW/ - Intact Insurance announced today that it is donating $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Society to assist Lac-Mégantic residents in the wake of the tragic train derailment in the municipality.
"We are deeply saddened by this terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to the community at this very difficult time," said Denis Garneau, Senior Vice President of Intact Insurance for Quebec.
Over the weekend, Intact Insurance mobilized its community response teams to help customers impacted by the disaster and begin to get their lives back to normal as quickly as possible.
The company has also set up a Community Response Centre, located at 4138 rue Laval in Lac-Mégantic, to provide in-person contact and help customers with the claims process, provide emergency funding and arrange for temporary accommodation.
