TORONTO, Jan. 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Interac e-Transfer continues to expand its reach with the addition of National Bank to a growing array of financial institutions offering the service to their customers. Interac e-Transfer is a secure person-to-person payment service and a convenient alternative to cash and cheques. National Bank is also offering the option of using mobile phone numbers, in addition to email, to notify Interac e-Transfer recipients.
"We are extremely pleased that National Bank is now making Interac e-Transfer available to its customers," said Allen Wright, Vice President, Products and Services Management, Interac Association and Acxsys Corporation. "Adding Interac e-Transfer to its product suite reflects the National Bank's strong commitment to offer innovative payment options to its customers."
Interac e-Transfer is a fast, secure and convenient way to send and receive money in near real time across the country, from one bank account to another through online banking. Importantly, money never travels by email or text message; this is used only to notify the recipient and to provide the recipient with instructions on how to deposit the money.
The sender's financial institution and the recipient's financial institution transfer funds using established and secure banking procedures. Personal or financial information, such as address, phone number and bank account information, is not shared and remains private. Recipients can deposit funds by clicking on the link contained in the email notification or text message, or the link contained in the notification can be typed into a browser - no matter how the recipient is notified, the individual can deposit the transfer using any computer or mobile device connected to the Internet.
More information about the Interac e-Transfer service and a complete list of the 77 participating banks and credit unions can be found at: www.interac.ca/consumers/productsandservices_ol_eTransfer.php.
