More than 440 locations across Canada to offer Interac Flash contactless debit payment
TORONTO, Nov. 15, 2012 /CNW/ - Interac Association announced today that M&M Meat Shops Ltd. (M&M) is the latest national retailer to start accepting Interac Flash contactless debit transactions, allowing customers to make their purchases even more quickly and conveniently than before. Interac Flash, an enhancement of Interac® Debit, is Canada's first contactless debit technology.
"For more than 32 years, our priority has been to provide our customers with the finest quality products at affordable prices in the most customer-friendly way," said Ian Mitchell, Vice President of Finance, IT, and H.R. of M&M Meat Shops Ltd. "Interac Flash allows us to further enhance our customer service by offering the latest and most convenient payment technology in Canada today."
Interac Flash will be accepted at most M&M locations starting this month with full deployment at M&M's more than 440 stores across Canada to be completed by the end of November. "With our recent new product launches and the holiday season approaching, we felt it was important to get Interac Flash deployed prior to December when our customers really appreciate the ability to get in and out of our stores quickly," added Mitchell.
"As Canadians' lives become busier, it's important for retailers to provide fast and secure transactions at the point of sale," said Mark O'Connell, President and CEO of Interac Association and Acxsys Corporation. "We're delighted that M&M Meat Shops has recognized the value of offering the speed, convenience and security of Interac Flash as a payment solution to meet the needs of their customers."
Moneris Solutions, one of Canada's largest payment card processors, will manage the deployment of Interac Flash for M&M Meat Shops Ltd.
About Interac Flash
Interac Flash gives cardholders the choice to pay for smaller value items faster than ever before by simply holding their card at a contactless point-of-sale reader that supports Interac Flash.
Interac Flash uses EMV technology and the existing chip debit infrastructure, which protects it from fraud tactics such as copying and "electronic pick-pocketing". It offers strong consumer protections and unique security features, including the fact that the card never leaves the user's hand. Leveraging the trusted Interac brand, cardholders are also protected from unauthorized transactions under the Interac Zero Liability Policy* and merchants continue to receive the benefits of economical, secure and non-refutable transactions associated with PIN-based Interac Debit.
Interac Flash enabled debit cards are already being issued by Scotiabank, RBC Royal Bank and TD Canada Trust and an increasing number of merchants are signing up to provide the service to their customers.
