DENVER, Dec. 17, 2018 /CNW/ - Intermap Technologies Corporation ("Intermap") today announced a business agreement with Lufthansa Systems GmbH & Co KG ("Lufthansa Systems"), where the companies will jointly bring to market the world's first high resolution geospatial terrain dataset, called Lido/SurfaceData NEXTView ("NEXTView"), targeted at multiple aviation specific use cases. Using proprietary information from each company, NEXTView improves and enriches installed applications for air safety, flight planning logistics, situational awareness, training, and emergency response, among other solutions, for both commercial and government customers. Important systems that will immediately benefit from NEXTView include synthetic and enhanced vision systems (SVS/EVS), terrain awareness and warning systems (TAWS), charting applications and flight planning applications. NEXTView combines high resolution terrain, obstacle, and aerodrome information into a single coherent and uniform global dataset with military-grade acuity. NEXTView is regularly updated with critical information.
Intermap has a distinguished history of service and innovative performance in the aviation industry. Dating back to 1919, Intermap won a U.S. Supreme Court decision which forever defined aviation as transportation, rather than a sport, allowing passenger flights to take place on Sundays. It was one of the first companies to collect, develop and use airborne survey and imagery to build situational awareness and improve safety of navigation. Today, as a contractor for the U.S. Geological Survey, Intermap develops and collects geospatial data in many of the world's most challenging terrain environments, including Alaska, which has more airspace than any other state, and where a lack of alternative infrastructure makes safe air travel a necessity.
"This newest evolution in our aviation offering combines Lufthansa Systems' most advanced, certified solutions with the world's highest acuity data and provisioning systems, from both companies, to improve speed, accuracy, consistency, automation, and critical decision-making," commented Patrick Blott, Chairman and CEO of Intermap. "Customers can enjoy effective and economical tools, which advance their processes and efficiency, and will most certainly save lives."
"We are very proud to develop our next generation terrain data product tailored to the needs of the aviation industry together with Intermap - a company with long lasting expertise in this area,” commented Michael Sauter, Senior Product Owner Aeronautical Data at Lufthansa Systems. "Lido/SurfaceData NEXTView will further enhance the product portfolio of Lufthansa Systems, allowing airlines and avionics providers to enhance safety with never seen terrain data."
