International Automakers Cap Great Week with Fuel Efficiency Award Wins

TORONTO, Feb. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Earlier today, Natural Resources Minister, The Hon. Joe Oliver, presented the ecoENERGY for Vehicles Awards for the most fuel efficient vehicles in ten different vehicle categories. Members of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada (AIAMC) captured awards in 7 of 10 categories.
"I'd like to congratulate the members of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada for their impressive showing in the awards for Canada's most fuel efficient vehicles," said Minister Oliver. AIAMC category winners were:

"A number of our members have demonstrated category leading fuel efficiency along with the application of advanced technologies in some cases, to achieve some truly impressive fuel efficiency numbers," said David Adams, President of the AIAMC.
"These awards cap an impressive opening to the 2012 Canadian International Auto Show in which member companies Hyundai and Volkswagen also garnered the coveted 2012 Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) awards for "Canadian Car of the Year" and "Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year" for the Elantra and the Touareg TDI Clean Diesel respectively," added Adams. Additionally Hyundai also collected the AJAC award for "Best New Design" for the Hyundai Veloster.
